ever play a fighting game with a mouse?

in the long, distant past of the same year where SF4 saved the entire fighting game genre [convenient youtube video about this], there came this silly little officially licensed and made PC game for street fighter named 'street fighter mouse generation'. as the name implies, it's played entirely by mouse, with mouse, on mouse, and nothing but mouse.

while it's a street fighter game-containing the characters and everything-it's moreso a strange crossover game. you have the usual suspects-ryu, ken, guile, chun-li, zangief for your buck, and some friends from capcom's other fighting games [read: rival schools and only rival schools, infact this isn't anything that this little company won't revisit again since they ended up in SFV too to the point of being straight up just welcomed into the street fighter extended universe alongside final fight, a capcom beat 'em up series that was originally going to be SF2], but also a original character unique to this game with a bit of a milestone to his name, that being: the first south korean character in street fighter! [no really, he predates juri han by quite a bit]

alongside these stars is where the weirdness actually is. plenty of characters from plenty of wuxia works by louis cha, plenty of characters from cyborg 009, a single character from detroit metal city, another from space sheriff gavan, and...

barack obama as a DLC character only available during valentine's day.

with some chocolate bar skins for the female characters in the game.

and this isn't the first time a real politician was in street fighter.

and regarding the noticable joints...yeah, that's where this gets even more niche and specific. because instead of being normal and handing you normal versions of the characters [and one real human being apparently], it's instead little toy versions of them-because this game was made in collaboration with revoltech, which is a name you'd probably recognize if you're a JJBA fan and/or a hoarder of japanese figures. you can even change their parts! don't know for what purpose or for why, and we'll never know because this game got shut down not too long after it came out, because nobody liked the idea of playing a fighting game with a mouse.

to warm your aching heart of never being able to give this oddity a try, here's a archival playlist of how this game actually looks in crisp quality.
