continuing the trend of infrequent unusual articles, here's one about crossover games...in no particular order. purely because i can't find any concrete info on what the first capcom crossover game was. it's short because i'm not as familiar with any of these...
i'm doing this instead of just x-men V.S. street fighter because i need to get something out of the way: remember when i said that that pocky x street fighter game had the second instance where a japanese comedian was in street fighter? this is the first. probably well-known, but that hasn't stopped me from talking about well-known things here, but...meet norimaro! he's a tiny version of noritake kinashi.
he fantasizes about zangief, takes over the world, and is exclusive only to japan. nothing else can be said, he's a joke character and you need to look up vids of him in action.
also, in this game-a thing i found interesting was that the UDON comics didn't come up with the idea of charlie nash being ever taken over by shadaloo as a soldier-capcom came up with it first-even with the same name no matter where he shows up.
hey, did you know that morrigan ties lillith up when you hold HK after a K.O.? yeah. that's in the japanese version...and in MVC2 as a whole. i didn't mean for this to be another age rated article.
ah geez, the only knowledge of old anime i have is go nagai works, astro boy, gundam, and grandaizer...besides how uncultured i am, did you know that the in-game currency, zenny, has a case of inflation? no, literally. in the western release, it is far higher compared to the japanese one. i literally don't know why.
in 2000, did you know that you can color the characters? like, actually change their colors? yeah, you can! do you know what else is interesting? SvC chaos is set in the afterlife with everyone except M. bison being pretty much dead, and this is entirely because bison wanted iori's body only for iori to kill himself. yeah. bison wanted to be a bishie emo. though the weirdest thing is that despite this [this info comes from a manhua anyway], bison...is in the game anyway. did he kill himself too? also, why the fuck did they censor the bodyguards holding hands in the neo geo port? also, can i take a second off to talk about the character art for the capcom characters whenever SNK does collabs with capcom? some of them look so stupid.
giving this it's own section here just to say that if i recall correctly, in one of the builds of the game shown off prior to release, everyone was verbally transphobic to poison-literally every winquote against her was mentioning her being born male. thankfully they immediately changed it on the release.
all i can think of for this, despite the wealth of content it has, is that bison's in it and has apparently expressed attraction to women [i found this out in a street fighter theory site]. i'm not going to comb through 17+ hours of cutscenes to note every little thing about this series, so i'm putting this out instead. also, pai and fei-long are friends!
oh right, this is a fangame...that's officially endorsed by capcom! no, really. it's even a free download! from what i recall of the story, someone just made this on their own, but capcom ended up picking it up with permission for a anniversary. the download link is somewhere out there, go hunt it down.
